Volvér means ‘to return,’ and the restaurant is a ‘return’ for Chef Jose Garces, one of the country’s leading chefs and restaurateurs. An avid traveler, Chef Garces brings his more than 15 years of global culinary exploration to Volvér, ‘returning’ fondly to some of his favorite meals and also re-imagining them with his signature flair: exceptional ingredients, expertly prepared and served by some of the finest hospitality professionals in the city.
Volvér offers two distinct experiences: sparkling wine, caviar and small plates in the graciously appointed lounge, and a decadent multi-course chef’s tasting in the intimate dining room. The ever-evolving menu highlights seasonal ingredients prepared with modern techniques that capture and amplify their inherent flavors, all inspired by Chef Garces’ travels around the world. Regional specialties, including locally raised meat, poultry and seafood, and produce from Chef Garces’ own Luna Farm in nearby Bucks County, feature prominently on the inventive and exciting menu, and the kitchen’s strong focus on innovation ensures that no two meals at Volvér are ever exactly alike.
Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the good fortune of traveling all over the US as well as internationally to experience and to research the best of the best dining experiences. In addition to being a chef, I’m also a culinary fan, and I avidly seek out this path of gastronomic exploration. I’ve been known to plan a travel itinerary around one or several places to eat!
When I visited any dining establishment on my trips, it was with a watchful eye towards creating my own interpretation of the unique experience that each offers. This was the inspiration for Volvér – it’s the comprehensive look back as some of these experiences that are etched in my memory, but it’s also a look forward into my own version of such an experience.
At Volvér, of course, the food will be top-notch, but it’s about an all-encompassing experience: the service, the hospitality, and the ambiance are all of paramount importance. I’m going to apply everything I’ve learned from being in the industry for the past 20+ years to make a night at Volvér something truly memorable for our guests.
